Why all the blankets?
![]() My son loved the bees the best. Fashion comes and goes. I started knitting blankets as a way of getting ready for the arrival of my children. In each case I knew the sex of the baby in advance and could plan the colourways around that. But it didn't really matter. Sitting there, knitting away, I was able to tentatively imagine myself as a mother with a baby. It was a kind of preparation where my hopes and love were expressed through the colours I chose and the way I put them together. Some feelings are better expressed through colour and shapes than put into words.
